Vauxhall Motors is a British automotive company, which is a subsidiary of Stellantis. It was founded in 1857 by Alexander Wilson as a pump and marine engine manufacturer and began manufacturing cars in 1903. Vauxhall became a mass-market car manufacturer and was acquired by American automaker General Motors (GM) in 1925. It operated as a part of GM for many years, becoming one of the oldest established vehicle manufacturers and distribution companies in the United Kingdom.
Vauxhall's vehicle lineup primarily consists of models shared with Opel, its German sister company, also owned by Stellantis. Before the Stellantis era, these models were essentially rebadged versions of Opel vehicles. The brand is well-known in the UK for its range of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles.
In recent years, Vauxhall, like many other automotive companies, has been focusing on the development of electric and hybrid vehicles as part of the broader industry shift towards sustainable transportation. The company aims to continue its long-standing tradition in the automotive industry by adapting to new technologies and market demands.
