What the crossover numbers are:

General Motors uses two main types of paint codes: the G code and the WA code. The G code is the newer system and replaces older two-digit codes, which may have a "U" prefix or suffix. The WA code is older and more consistent, though it's only referenced about half the time.

For purchasing paint, you can use the AC Delco or GM pen/aerosol can numbers to find the corresponding paint code. These products are available through any GM dealership or various websites (note: our site, hdpaintcode.com, does not have any sponsorship, affiliate deals, or links).

If you're looking to mix paint, you might encounter the Akzo number, which is used in stores that stock brands like Sikkens, Lesonal, Wanda, or Utech. Similarly, Axalta (formerly Dupont) and BASF (brands like Diamont, Glasurit, Limco) use their specific numbers for mixing paint.

Also color names are different than paint codes.  The color name can change every year with every model, but can be the same paint code.
